Eynesbury Rovers  3    Rushden & Higham United  1

Saturday, 05 December 2009

Rovers bounced back from a couple of poor results to dispose of much changed Rushden & Higham at Hall Road.

Neil Morris hit the woodwork for Eynesbury with the game goalless.

Gavin Batt played in Adam Boothby to flick the ball past the keeper and tap home a thirteenth minute opener for Rovers but this was matched by a Craig Harrower reply, a low shot into the corner, sixty seconds later.

Ross West, who by then had also been thwarted by the woodwork, restored Eynesbury's lead from a Ricky Taylor through ball a minute before the half hour mark.

Home debutant Adam Podgorski preserved his side's lead with a goalline clearance while at the other end Craig Smith was likewise thwarted by a block on the line.

Batt sealed the home side's success with a goal against his old club after 74 minutes, heading home a Taylor centre.

The woodwork again kept Morris off the scoresheet in stoppage time.
