Holbeach United  0    Deeping Rangers  3

Wednesday, 28 October 2009

An effective counter attacking performance by Deeping gave them victory at Carters Park.

Holbeach started brightly and were unlucky not to take a third minute lead through Craig Parker whose 20 yardshot hit the underside of the bar and bounced
down on the goalline.

Luke Kennedy found space in the box to give Deeping the lead against the run of play after twelve minutes.

Liam Nimmo slid in to shoot wide from an inviting Cymon Lambe cross while late in the first half home keeper James Doughty saved well from Mitch Griffiths at the near post.

Mark Paul had a snap shot saved on resumption before the match settled into a pattern of Holbeach pushing forward and Deeping countering at pace.

Rangers went two up after seventy minutes when Dan Jacob sent Paul clear to apply a confident finish.

When the Tigers fought back John-Paul Duncliffe cleared off the line from Jon Fairweather and before the ball was cleared Lewis Brooks crashed a shot againt the angle of post and bar.

Deeping sealed their win five minutes from time with a fast break on the left from Griffiths setting up Paul for a simple finish.
