Division One

Eynesbury Rovers  3    Wellingborough Whitworth  3

Saturday, 29 August 2009

Eynesbury's perfect start to the campaign came to a halt as the Flourmen battled back from two down to collect their first point of the new season.

Both goals had narrow escapes early on with Joe Jordan's effort for Rovers blocked on the line and at the other end Craig Smith blocked Devon Ellwood's netbound effort.

Barry Albone scored his third goal in three matches to give Rovers a 31st minute lead, heading in Stuart Harper's knock back across goal from Ricky Taylor's free kick, but Ben Holley hauled the visitors level after 46 minutes chipping home after breaking down the centre.

Parity proved short lived as Adam Boothby restored Rovers' advantage with a fierce shot from just inside the box after 49 minutes, and the home side looked on course for a third victory when Darren Woodend extended their lead from the penalty spot a minute before the hour after Jordan was brought down by Jamie Black.

Holley put Whitworth back in the contest after 76 minutes with a shot from the left side of the box and in the final minute of the match he completed his hat trick to salvage a point for the Flourmen, converting Black's free kick at the far post with the help of Anthony Sharp's flick across goal.
