United Counties Football League
2009-2010 Season

Division One

Peterborough Northern Star  2    Northampton Sileby Rangers  0

Saturday, 10 October 2009

A goal in each half was enough to give Star a win that extended their lead at the top to four points.

Player manager Chris Plummer set the ball rolling after twelve minutes, heading in a Mark Baines corner and the home success was sealed by substitute Ali Nyang who intercepted a wayward pass and beat a defender before firing home with ten minutes remaining.

In between Star had another point ruled out for a push while Ian Edge skied a penalty over the bar after Mark Baines was brought down by Sileby keeper Iulian Stzatulat, while second half pressure from the visitors went unrewarded.

Star: Marcin Lubniewski, Wayne Morris, Scott Woods, Paul Hill, Chris Plummer, Lee Blewett, Chris Garwell (James McDonough), Ben Baines, Ian Edge, Ryan Francis (Ali Nyang), Mark Kingston (Ronnie Fortune).
