Boston completed a five day double over Desborough to keep their title hopes alive.

Desborough's Chris Difante had the first effort on goal, firing over from distance from Ronnie White's lay off, while at the other end Mark Foster collected Liam Ogden's short corner and forced Tom Smith in the home goal to save.

Pete Sneddon was narrowly too high from 30 yards as play switched from end to end.

The Poachers took a 25th minute lead when a throw from the left was cleverly dummied by Gary Bull, allowing Paul Goodhead space to slot home.

Visiting custodian Nick Conroy saved well from Mick Tolton after Difante laid off Jamie Gilsenan's centre.

The visitors started the second half brightly with Smith off his line quickly to snuff out Matt Kennedy's speedty break on the left, while Goodhand's snap shot again brought Smith into action.

Boston doubled their advantage three minutes before the hour, Liam Ogden's pass finding Matt Kennedy whose well struck drive was diverted into the net by Laszlo Lovas's glancing header.

Conroy made a fine double save to thwart Jon Mitchell and Difante while at the other end Boston substitute Nathan Iley failed to hit the target from Goodhand's inviting cross.

Desborough were back in the game a quarter of an hour from with a clever Difante chip over stranded goalkeeper Conroy.

As the home pressure mounted Tolton was unable to convert a near post chance, Mitchell shot wide from a good position at the back post and Difante latched onto a Shaun Baker back header only for his lob to sail wide.

Lovas missed a chance to seal victory for Boston at the end of a move he initiated himself, and there was a stoppage time let off for the Poachers as Tolton found the visiting net from close range but was flagged offside.
