Saturday, 14 March 2009

Two late goals gave the Cuckoos victory in this Huntingdonshire derby.

St Neots enjoyed the bulk of the first half possession and chances but it Yaxley who made the breakthrough a minute before half time. Liam Harrold spotted keeper Lee Crockett off his line and produced a sublime 30 yard lob to give his side the lead.

Chris Johnson was denied an equaliser by the crossbar after 63 minutes but two minutes later he had better luck, slotting home the equaliser after good work from strike partner Jamie Steele.

Yaxley went back in front on 80 minutes as substitute Dominic Henson crossed for Richard Challinor to net with a diving header and three minutes from time the Cuckoos were home and dry as Harrold evaded two challenges and slipped the ball to Dan Jacobs who fired home from a narrow angle.
