Long Buckby  2    Desborough Town  1

Tuesday, 09 September 2008

Buckby extended their sequence of league victories to five but it left it late to subdue Ar Tarn.

Carl Holmes continued his fine form in front of goal with Buckby's twentieth minute opener, a header from ex-Desborough man Jamie Gilsenan's centre.

Mick Tolton equalised for Desborough after 56 minutes, taking a return pass to break through the home rearguard and slot home.

Heavy late pressure from Buckby looked like going unrewarded, particularly when Holmes was denied a second goal by the post.

Just two minutes remained when Russ Dunkley won the contest for the Bucks with a header.
