Stotfold's winning start to the season bit the dust as Willen Road as the Swans bounced back from their FA Cup defeat to make it seven points out of nine in the league.

Defender John Thorpe put Newport in front after 28 minutes with a header from Rowland Gavin's free kick. Stotfold had plenty of possession and chances without fining them home net. Vinny Shrieves continued his fine start to the campaign with a second for the Swans nine minutes from time, forcing the ball home at the second attempt after Eagles keeper Brad Gillham saved his initial header.
