F.A. Cup
Extra Preliminary Round

St Ives Town  3    Cornard United  2

Saturday, 18 August 2007

The Saints knocked Cornard out of the FA Cup for the second season running but they progressed the hard way after falling two goals behind early on.

Adam Warren's tenth minute opener for the visitors was quickly followed by a second goal from Ross Barton two minutes later.

It took an hour for Simon Claridge to open St Ives' account  with a far post header from Jason King's cross and five minutes later Barry Albone squared the tie with another header, Claridge the provider this time.

The momentum was with the Saints now and Liam Kennett won the match after 73 minutes with a shot from a narrow angle after Brian Liston-Clark and Jamie Blackwell combined in the build up.
