Daventry Town  4    Rothwell Corinthians  1

Saturday, 26 January 2008

Town maintained their 100% home record as they swept aside promotion hopefuls Corinths.

Daventry took a stranglehold on the game in the early stages with a quick three goal salvo.

Luke Walker opened the scoring six minutes in and two minutes later Richard Wesley added a second for Town.

When Wesley scored again with just eleven minutes played Daventry's 17th successive win looked assured.

Chris Torrence replied for Corinths ten minutes before the break, latching on to Tony Ielapi's header, but any hopes the visitors harboured of a comeback were extinguished six minutes into the second half when Wesley completed his hat trick with his sixteenth goal of the campaign.

Corinths ended with ten men after Tony Ielapi's late dismissal.

Daventry: Joe Mellings, Nik Maund, Tom James, Ady Greatrex (Chris Godwin), Luke Walker, Josh O'Grady (Paul Saunders), Ryan Byrne, Adam Confue, Tom Berwick, Danny Nelson (Danny Finlay), Richard Wesley.

Corinths: Tom Cross, Chris Dunn, Lee Deacon (Jason Singh), Tom Judge, Kevin Fox (Phil Cox), Luke Bewers (Marcus Merrill), Tony Ielapi, Tom Johnson, Dave Briffa, Chris Torrence, Andy White.
