Stotfold  4    Blackstones  2

Saturday, 24 November 2007

Blackstones' records of fifteen successive wins and eighteen games without defeat were wrecked by the Eagles at Roker.

An 8th minute Ricky Case effort, a low shot inside the far post, had Stotfold in front at the interval and the Eagles doubled their lead after 56 minutes through Joel Mason who converted a corner at the far post.

Stones were not about to surrender their record without a fight and Colin Shambrook's 70th minute own goal from Ian Flavell's long clearance gave them a lifeline which was seized two minutes later as Phil Stebbing squared the contest from close range, converting an Ashley Stevens pass from an acute angle.

Parity was to last only three minutes before Tawhid Juneja restored Stotfold's lead following Paul Garrett's surging run. Luke Kennedy then had the ball in the net for the visitors only to be thwarted by an offside flag and three minutes from the end Garrett wrapped up the Eagles' success, running through on the left to slide the ball under Flavell.
