This tie at Tattershall Road produced a major upset as Midland Combination outfit Nuneaton Griff put the table topping Poachers out of the Vase. Two early goals did the damage, Dave Ashton opening the scoring after eight minutes with Ian Wilson adding a second for Griff five minutes later. The Poachers dominated proceedings thereafter but were unable to convert possession into goals.
