Woodford United  1    St Neots Town  2

Saturday, 08 April 2006

After moving to the top of the table with a 16 match unbeaten run, Woodford's successful sequence ended with defeat against bogey side St Neots who completed a double and also beat the Reds in the Knockout Cup. Steve Kuhne's 36th goal of the season, a 12th minute spot kick awarded for handball, gave the Saints an early lead and on the hour Danny Griggs added a second after home keeper Matt Finlay could only parry a Gary Walker shot. The Saints had defender Gary Watts hospitalised with an ankle injury, but Woodford could only manage an 85th minute consolation from Russ Dunkley - his 29th of the season. The woodwork preserved St Neots' lead late in the contest.
