Saturday, 17 September 2005

A late Fords fightback dashed Raunds' hopes of climbing to second place in the table. After a scoreless first half which saw James Fox, Matt Curtis and Richard Tanner go close for Raunds, Fords took a 56th minute lead through Ben Foster who netted after Shane Geary's chip played him in, but six minutes later Fox hauled the Shopmates on terms, controlling before firing past Fords keeper Sean Markie. With just 14 minutes remaining Fox's second goal from a Jed Ainge cross gave Raunds the lead, but they were pegged back by an 81st minute reply from former Raunds man Ian Pearce netted with a left foot shot after Foster's shot was blocked. Lee Bradley scored the 89th minute winner for the Motormen after Mark Hewitt's free kick was flicked on by Foster.
