With the Flourmen undefeated and the Walnut Boys without a victory this looked a home banker, but instead Kempston sprang a surprise to secure their first victory under new manager Clive Black. Tom Terry decided the contest in Rovers' favour with the vital goal three minutes before the interval, scoring direct from a free kick.
