Saturday, 18 March 2006

Fords still need a few more points to seal their top flight place for next season so Mark Drake's late intervention against one of his old clubs proved timely as the Motormen shared the spoils against their high riding visitors. The home side took a third minute lead through defender Adrian Pestell who headed in a corner, but the Saints took charge at the end of the first half with manager Steve Kuhne levelling the score after 44 minutes from the penalty spot, his 29th goal of the campaign, after Jon Hoggett was fouled. In the dying seconds of the half Andre Maltay put the visitors in front with a stunning 25 yard strike. With time ticking away the Saints looked set for victory but with two minutes to play Drake maintained his habit of scoring against previous employers with the equaliser, heading in a corner.
