These two sides proved well matched at Roker. After a low key first half Ross Nichols hit the woodwork for Deeping early in the second half. Rangers went in front on the hour through Nichols who broke down the left and cut inside to fire into the top corner. Stotfold replied four minutes later through Jason Blackett who collected the ball with his back to goal, turned and volleyed home. Bobby Lewsam almost marked his Deeping return with a winner but was denied by the frame of the goal.
