Cogenhoe United  4    Raunds Town  1

Saturday, 19 November 2005

Cogenhoe stormed back to winning ways with an emphatic defeat of Raunds at Compton Park. Early substitute Steve Diggin gave the champions a 24th minute advantage after racing through the visiting defence to slot past keeper Michael Freeman, but they were pegged back by Richard Tanner's 12th goal of the season after 69 minutes. The Raunds top marksman tapped home the rebound after Pete Earl saved his penalty. Six minutes later Fazel Koriya's spot kick, awarded after Stuart Smeathers was fouled, restored Cogenhoe's lead and late strikes from Diggin after 88 and 90 minutes made it a day to remember for the youngster who has yet to start a Premier game for the Cooks. His second goal came from a Rob Goldring cross and his third was a lob over the advancing keeper.
