A first League meeting between the sides saw the Hertfordshire side take off with the points in a goal strewn ninety minutes.

The Reds had Ryan O'Neil back in midfield but Lee Allinson chose to play for Enfield again in their game at Boreham Wood not helping the Reds cause at all.

The sides opened the game cagily but it was Oxhey that took the lead in the eighth minute. A Langford free kick was cleared and put Jamie Arthur away he easily outpaced Deep Banghard and forced a good save out of Danny Goad as he pushed the ball away for a corner. From the corner Paul Haynes latched onto the loose ball in the area and his mis-hit shot beat Goad to his right. An equaliser looked a possibility just three minutes later when Joe Desalle's free kick from twenty-five yards forced visiting keeper Kevin Paul to claw away the effort for a corner. Worst followed for the Reds after thirteen minutes when Ian Holdom fired home from the edge of the box following a left wing cross.

The game continued with Langford only slowly forcing themselves into the game. The visitors meanwhile passed the ball around with adequate ease and created more chances to increase the lead. Jamie Arthur came nearest when his effort rebounded from the post. It wasn't until three minutes from the break that the Reds got back into the game Robert Groves deep cross finding Clive Woodland who caught the ball on the volley to fire across goal and into the far post netting. Woodalnd again so nearly equalised before the break and he and Pete Saunders worked an opening in the area and only a hasty hack clear from a visiting defender prevented Woodland's second.

The second half was a much livelier affair with both teams creating chances from the off. Oxhey continued to pass the ball around while the home side preferred the more direct approach. Goad's push for a corner prevented Wayne Gladdy from extending the visitors lead after Paul Haynes had created the chance. Save of the afternoon came from Kevin Paul as he produced a flying reflex save from a Ryan O'Neil bullet header ten minutes into the half. Langford good work of the half was suddenly wasted as a misplaced pass allowed 'player of the match' Paul Haynes to cross for Wayne Gladdy to prod home at the second attempt after Goad had blocked his initial effort on fifty seven minutes. It only took Langford three minutes to pull the goal back with a ?goal of the season? contender from Joe Desalle. A thunderbolt of a free kick from 23 yards rocketed into the top right hand corner giving keeper Paul no chance. The visitors struck back with Haynes prominent in the build up as well as forcing a save from Goad. Langford introduced Wayne Goldsmith on 66 minutes and for the remainder of the game he gave a contribution that certainly warrants a longer run in the side.

Within four minutes he had spun his marker and set up a chance for Robert Groves that was blocked. This could have spelt disaster for the Reds as Paul Haynes picked up the loose ball and travelled the length of the park before Goad came out to block his shot. A minute later and Wayne Goldsmith was unlucky as his effort flashed across goal and wide. Oxhey were working hard to kill off the home side with Saggers timely challenge on Wayne Gladdy preventing a forth goal. Ian Holdom should have made sure but his header from a Jamie Arthur cross went over. The Reds also blocked two good efforts from an Oxhey free kick in a dangerous position. The pressure was bound to tell in the end and in the eighty-third minute Chris Harding out jumped Dan Goad to head home number four from a right wing cross. Try as they might Langford couldn't reduce the deficit any further until two minutes from time when a bit of Robert Groves left foot magic put in Wayne Goldsmith who was then unceremoniously dumped in the area. Robert Groves struck home a firm left foot spot kick to make the final score 3-4 and a seventh successive League defeat for Langford despite the entertaining second half.
