Keen to put behind them their disappointing performance in their last game the home side got off to a bright start on an evening where there was nip in the air and the threat of fog.

A corner from Neil Jordan found Andy Martin who crossed in and Richie Howard got in a header that went narrowly wide of the far post and on seven minutes Neil Jordan and Richie Howard combined to release Ollie Bennison whose deflected shot found the corner of the net to give the home side an early lead.

Good work down the left saw Kieron Woodward whip in a cross that saw a diving header from Nicky Winger that went past the post. A good shot from Andy martin but hit straight at the keeper. Then again Kieron Woodward got down the left cut into the box but was tacked for a corner. The corner was hit deep for Nicky Winger to head wide.

The home side enjoyed the greater possession but goal mouth activity was at a premium.

A long range effort from Richie Howard was blocked and the ball came out to Neil Jordan who released Andy Martin on the left who entered the box and shot across the goal and Richie Howard coming in from the right got on the end of it to ram the ball home to make it two on forty one minutes.

On the stroke of half time the visitors had their only real opportunity of the game when from a corner the ball was hit goal wards and looked a yard over the line before Stuart Milne cleared but the officials? waived play on to the amazement of both teams.

Half time arrived with the home side comfortably in control but the game had failed to ignite in front of a sparse crowd.

A shot from Kieron Woodward was deflected wide for a corner. Ollie Bennison got down the left cut in and was fouled just outside the box. The resultant free kick from Richie Howard was struck through the wall into the right hand corner and it was three on fifty seven minutes.

Lee Mitchell then replaced Andy Martin. The second half followed on in a similar vein to the first

It was four on seventy one minutes when after good work from Lee Mitchell on the edge of the box released Ollie Bennison on the right who turned and shot low into the left hand corner for his second of the game.

Adrian Devine replaced Bradley Poole to be followed by Steve Smart replacing Ollie Bennison.

Richie Howard ht a shot that was deflected for a corner but as the fog began to descend in the final ten minutes there were no further chances and the game finished in a straight forward home win by four goals to nil.

Team: Chris Fitkin, Bradley Poole (Adrian Devine), James Dickie, Stuart Milne, Michael Sharman, Kieron Woodward, Neil Jordan, Andy Martin (Lee Mitchell), Richie Howard, Nicky Winger, Ollie Bennison (Steve Smart)

Goal Scorers: Ollie Bennison 2 and Richie Howard 2

Assistant Manager Paul Surridge commented: "It was important that we got the right result tonight and got back on track after Saturdays major disappointment. It helped a lot by getting the early goal which took the pressure off. We got to half time two nil up without playing that well. In the second half we got better and more positive and looked more of a threat. In the end we won the game comfortably without being at our best but four nil was a true reflection of the ninety minutes and both forwards would have been pleased with two goals each and with Hanwell dropping two points tonight we have repaired some of the damage done last Saturday."
