Launton Sports Reserves      Yarnton Reserves

Saturday, 30 November 2013

Launton: Mark Hobbs (2), Michael Woodward,

Yarnton: Michael Trafford 2,

Launton started slowly and were soon behind when Michael Trafford scored from within the penalty area after a very good counterattack from Yarnton. Launton were having to play players out of position due to player availability and it was makeshift striker Stephen Huntley who squared the ball to leading scorer Mark Hobbs who tapped home from 6 yards out to level the scores. Yarnton continued to cause the Launton defence problems and it took several fine saves from Craig Kelly to keep them at bay. Yarnton's pressure told just before half time and Michael Trafford scored his 2nd.

Launton needed a response in the 2nd half and a few tactical changes helped to get Launton ticking and they were soon level after Mark Hobbs was brought down in the penalty area. Captain Michael Woodward stepped up and converted from the spot. It was player manager Ashley Payne that popped up in an unfamiliar left wing position to seal all 3 points when he attacked the back post and was found by a Mark Hobbs cross to score from close range.
