Saturday, 09 November 2013

B&NN:  Andy Cullen, Olly Byne, Brandon Foster, James Castle

Yarnton:  Michael Trafford (3)

Broughton pipped Yarnton in a 7 goal thriller. Yarnton took a 2-0 half time lead despite Broughton creating and missing several chances. Yarnton's Tristin Robson made 3 point blank saves to keep Yarnton noses in front at the break. Both Yarntons efforts were converted by Michael Trafford.
After a half time rollicking and a change in personnel Brandon Foster replacing Sam Wyatt at the break and Andy Cullen dropping into central midfield. It was Cullen with a 30 yard screamer into the bottom corner to open Broughton's account. This was quickly followed by a sweet move down the right involving Alec Hale and Olly Byne with the latter passing the ball into the net. Within 2 minutes substitute Brandon Foster played a one two with James Castle before slotting into the net to give Broughton the lead. Broughton then opened a 2 goal cushion when James Castle with a diving header converted Alec Hale's cross at the far post. The scoring was completed by Yarnton's Michael Trafford when he's looted home a penalty for his hat trick.
Broughton held out for the victory to give them their first 3 pointer of the season.
The game was played in great spirit throughout and well controlled by Referee Gerald Walsh.
