Freeland  3    Oxford Irish  4

Tuesday, 09 April 2013

A late Freeland comeback almost grabbed what looked like an unlikely point for most of the game in a thrilling finish against Oxford Irish.

Irish were in complete control for the first hour of the game and deservedly went a goal up with a well taken finish by Piers Mcglynn. Freeland levelled up a couple of minutes later through an own goal but Irish raced into a 4-1 lead with goals from Tom Conway, Craig Hambridge and another from the impressive Piers Mcglynn.

With not long to go Freeland started to play, and Jefferson Harriott grabbed them a lifeline when he calmly slotted past the Irish keeper and then John Umney set up a frantic finale when he bundled the ball home. Freeland missed a couple of late chances but Oxford Irish held firm to win 4-3.
