B&NN: Chris Horn, Aaron Lowe

Chalgrove: James Quainton, Calum Clewer

Broughton and North Newington continued there good recent run of results with a hard fought 2 – 2 drew with league leaders Chalgrove. Broughton owed much to the man of the match performance of goalkeeper Mike Sharman.  The first 30 minutes were a very tight affair with neither side forcing either goalkeeper into a save, On 35 minutes Chalgrove opened the scoring after a defensive error let them in down the right side, the ball fell to James Quainton who had the simple task of tapping into an empty net from six yards out.

B&NN came out fighting in the second half but it was Chalgrove who created the early chances with Broughton keeper Mike Sharman making three fine saves to stop Chalgrove increasing their lead.  On 53 minutes Charlgrove extended their lead when Calum Clower hit an unstoppable shot from the edge of the area which ripped the net in two. Broughton kept plugging away and got themselves back into the game when on 66 minutes Chris Horn fired home from 20 yards, this gave Broughton the believe that they could get a result and they continued to push forward in search of the equaliser.
On 72 minutes John Umney forced Chalgrove’s keeper into a fine save and from the resulting corner Broughton were awarded a penalty for handball. Aaron Lowe stepped up and fired the ball past the keeper. 2 -2. In the final minutes Chalgrove went in search of the winner and forced Sharman into making at least 5 top quality saves to earn Broughton a point.
