After chances had been shared during the opening 20 minutes of this game, Broughton & NN Reserves took the lead following a flick-on from a throw-on and a sharp turn and near-post finish. Watlington responded soon after through Connor B’layachi’s smart angled finish after Sam Carter’s long cross had evaded the Broughton defence.
The second half, played in atrocious conditions that saw heavy downpours turn to hail amid strong winds and very poor light, began with the away side capitalising on a mix-up in the Watlington defence to make it 2-1, before a short Watlington back pass was intercepted and dispatched to leave the hosts trailing 3-1. Broughton added three more goals without reply, although Watlington were unlucky not to notch more goals themselves from some of the chances they created.
