Newly promoted Chalgrove moved in to 2nd position in Division 1 on Saturday with a fine 3-0 victory away at Yarnton. Chalgrove started brightly, full of confidence following the win over Eynsham and on a surface which allowed them to play their fluid passing game, and despite creating some great chances, rattling the woodwork and some slightly wayward finishing it was somehow 0-0 at half-time, when it should have been at least 0-6. Eeles rarely troubled in the Chalgrove goal.
The second half though saw Chalgrove make their possession count and within 6 minutes they went 1-0 up when Nick Skiller finished superbly over the advancing keeper. With Chalgrove now in full control it wasn't too long before the second came on the 19 minutes as James Quainton rose to head home from a corner. Chalgrove then sealed the victory on the 34th minute when a fine move saw Simon Godfrey play in Nick Skiller who brought the ball down with a fine touch and lashed the ball past the Yarnton 'keeper. Chalgrove could not add to their score, due again to bad finishing and good goalkeeping from the Yarnton keeper.
