Horspath  3    Oxford Irish  1

Saturday, 31 March 2012

Horspath: Elliot Obrien (2), Paul Cooper,

OI: DANNY Nicholls,

Although Horspath started slowly , the first chance of the game fell to Horspaths RHYS veal ,who should have scored with only the keeper to beat . OXFORD Irish continued to push forward and could have been three or four up by half time , but for a string of fine saves from the home keeper Gavin busby . Mark Scanes should have put the visitors in front when they were awarded a soft penalty for handball, but he failed to convert the spot kick. Horspath hung in there to go in level at break .

The second have was a lot different and Horspath had a lot more of the play , a quickly taken free kick from SEB WARNNER set Elliot Obrien free to round Ryan Davies and put Horspath into the lead . Irish levelled through DANNY Nicholls . With the game in the balance it could have gone either way. With twenty minutes to go Paul Cooper came off the bench, and within minutes gave Horspath the lead with a diving header, with his pace up front it pushed the visitors back . The home sides defence stood firm and ELLIOT Obriens second goal of the game sealed the win for Horspath .
