Kennington started the game poorly and were punished when Irish took the lead through a fine Tobin Conway strike from 20 yards. Mark Scanes was then bought down for a penalty to Irish and the wiley veteran picked himself up, dusted himself down and hit a strong penalty that was almost kept out by home keeper Nick Hill. Kennington the raised there game and missed several simple chances in the remaining 25 minutes of the 1st half.
Kennington then dominated the 2nd half and again poor finishing let them down. on 70 minutes Kennington were awarded an indirect free kick for a pass back which was dispatched by Rob Cattell to bring the score back to 2-1. Kennington pushed hard for an equaliser but it was not to be and Irish ran out 2-1 winners.
