Horspath  5    Eynsham  1

Saturday, 06 December 2008

A crisp Saturday afternoon in December saw the visit of a weakened Eynsham to Horspath. Horspath started brighter, getting quickly into their stride to put the away side under pressure which was withheld until midway through the first half when a slick passing move was neatly despatched first time past the keeper by Paul Flack after great wing play by Jon Weekes-Pearson. Horspath continued to press and were rewarded before half time with a second goal headed in by Weekes-pearson after a cross from the left. With the Horspath defence being marshalled well by Eason and Chase the score remained 2-0 until half-time.

A more attack minded Eynsham appeared after the break, which resulted in a few gaps appearing early on in the 2nd half.  A cross from the right into the danger area was begging to be put home by one of the Horspath attackers of which weekes-pearson obliged to grab his 2nd and Horspaths 3rd of the game. The game was effectively over.  Horspaths 4th and 5th goals came courtesy of Andy Kirtland – the first an unstoppable drive from 20 yards into the top corner and the 2nd a neat finish after good approach play found him in space in the area. Eynsham did claw a consolation goal back through Andy Glossop near the end but it was too little too late.
