Broughton & NN Reserves  4    Slade Farm Reserves  3

Saturday, 18 October 2008

This game was full of action that saw 7 goals and a great fight back from Broughton. The Broughton defense was caught sleeping in the early stages of the game and Slade took the lead. Despite chances at both ends it wasn't until the 42nd minute that veteran striker Mark Jackson turned his defender in side out before firing home from 18 yards. Slade then hit back when the Broughton keeper spilt the ball into the path of the Slade striker just before half time.

Broughton came out fighting in the second half but it was Slade that scored a third catching Broughton on the break. Broughton's never say die attitude showed as they scored 2 goals in 3 minutes to draw the scores level, the first a firm right foot drive from player manager Paul Cutler and the second an excellent 20 yard volley from Wes Furey. Broughton then took the lead from a moment of individual brilliance from Craig Hale scoring from outside the box. Slade never gave up and attacked the Broughton goal for the last few minutes, James Tillcock held a solid line to keep the score at 4-3.
