Saturday, 10 September 2005

Second division Farmborough visited Coleford in this 1st round Dimmock Green K.O. Cup match. The visitors resolute defending and hard work restricted Coleford to a couple of early chances before the breakthrough came after twenty minutes with Les Allen setting up Jamie Reynolds for his fourth goal in three starts this season. Allen then converted a penalty, scuffing the ball into the corner for the home teams second goal. The last part of the half descended into mediocracy, with all concerned grateful to hear excellent referee Paddy Randall's whistle.
A second penalty and Coleford's third arrived after fifty one minutes, Allen again converting and then completed his hat trick from a Nick Parr through ball, this was Allen's seventh goal in two games. The fifth arrived after seventy two minutes Charlie Walton heading home another Allen cross. Substitute Lance Cray vollied the sixth and final goal with ten minutes remaining. Despite not producing any shots on target Farmborough continued to battle as they had all game until the final whistle. Les Allen achieves man of the match awards in consecutive weeks.
