Copland FC continued their magnificent recent run with an extremely hard fought win at Blue Marlin. This followed on from a comprehensive victory also away against Wilberforce Wanders which finished 7-1, with goals for Aaron Silcott 2, Juvhan Kellar 2, Bertram Williams 1, Ricci Roberts 1 and Anton Anderson 1.

In the face of tough tackling Copland showed that not only can they play teams off the park but they can also mix it if that is the intention of the opposition. Following a frenetic start Aaron Silcott was brought down on the right hand side, Ricci Roberts delivered a perfect free kick for Aaron Silcott to head back across the keeper finding the far corner.

What followed was to the purist a scrappy game due to Blue Marlin bringing the game down to that level. Having said that Blue Marlin did not manage to test Nicholas Plummer, thanks to hard work led from the front by Aaron Silcott assisted by the WHOLE team in ensuring that what possession was had was never easy! Man of the match Rashard Grant was the stand out defender who along with the rest of the defence did not allow any of the Blue Marlin attackers to create anything.

Due to an injury sustained by Anton Anderson an opportunity was given to Jermaine Johnson to make his debut, during which he accredited himself very well with a couple of incisive runs. The last of which resulted in him being brought down by two players for a clear penalty. During the wait for the penalty to be taken one of the Blue Marlin players actually placed a stone in front of the ball! Copland’s manager Paul Lawrence along with the captain Aleks Hughes noticed and managed to let Aaron know of the underhand tactics that were being attempted. Not to be put off Aaron blasted the ball off the underside of the bar to seal a well deserved victory
