Hendon 'A'  3    Copland  1

Saturday, 01 November 2008

Copland had their second league game this season against Hendon on a rainy afternoon. Copland got of to a great start playing the better football and moving the ball quicker than their opponents. Eventually the pressure led to the first goal of the match. A great move by Copland putting Aaron Silcott through on goal and him finishing it placing it in the bottom corner.

Copland was having the better half and was still playing the better football with the odd counter attack coming from Hendon. Shortly after the first goal scored Aaron Silcott had another chance in front of goal but lucky for Hendon he failed to put Copland 2-0 up. Copland were also disallowed a goal scored by Jermaine Dadson which appeared to be offside when he was clearly onside.

The first half was coming to an end but on the 38th minute Hendon got a goal through a slick attack through the Copland defence and was finished nicely by Darren Turner.

During the game there were great displays from Stefhan kellar, Bertram Williams and Robert Osbourne who made his debut.

The second half started well again for Copland and they was passing the ball much quicker than the first half but could not turn their possession into goals. Copland got unlucky though, as three of the players picked up injuries which affected the team’s performance. They also missed a chance to go level were Aaron Silcott missed a penalty.

On the 60th minute it got worse for Copland and Hendon got a corner and Copland conceded an own goal through Nicholas. Now it was crucial for Copland to get a second. As the game went on Copland tried to force the pressure on Hendon and were starting to get frustrated forcing some of their passes and not creating enough quality in the final third. Towards the end of the game Copland conceded again and Hendon forward Darren Turner slotted Hendon’s third.

Overall Copland played well and man of the match was Robert Osbourne. The difference was that Hendon striker Darren Turner was good on the day and more clinical in front of goal.
