United were looking for their second win of the season when they entertained Lincoln United Res. United where missing Ben Martin, Sean Chamberlain and Arron Scutt from the starting line up from the win over Grimsby Borough in mid-week.

United started the brighter of the two sides and took the lead on 10 minutes when a pass by Ryan O’Loughlin sent Kurt Crossley clear and he placed the ball pass keeper Shaw has he came of his line. United kept the upper hand and on 20 minutes increased the lead. Luke Rayner-Mistry received the ball on the left just in the visitors half, and went on a run towards the penalty area beating five players before shooting into the corner pass Shaw. On 35 minutes Lincoln got themselves back into the game when Sam Coulson fired home a free kick from a good 30 yards which left home keeper Michael Howard with no chance. The reminder of the half was more even and the goal had given Lincoln more confidence.

The first action of the second half was when Shaw tipped over the bar a 25 yard shot from Ryan O’Loughlin. On 55 minutes Sean Chamberlain replaces Jobe Stainton. With around 20 minutes to go Ben Drysdale was sent off for a second bookable offence, and Mark Hallam reverted to left back. Upto to the sending off the game had been a scrappy affair with neither side having control and with few goal efforts. At this stage Lincoln new they had a chance to level the scores. However they produced very few clear chances, and the back line of Jordan Walden, David Muirhead, Kyle McGuigan supported by Mark Hallam held firm.

As the game was moving to the close United scored two late goals. On 88 minutes Kurt Crossley got the better of the last defender and went on to chip the ball over Shaw has he came of his line.

Within a minute United got number four when Sam Walker was released on the right and when his cross came over  Ryan O’Loughlin turned the defender and placed his shot into the corner of the net.

This win took United top with neighbours Town.
