Milton United  0    Ardley United  5

Monday, 03 January 2005

Milton could not possibly have started the New Year with a worse performance as they succumbed easily to a mid table Ardley United team that they had soundly beaten just a month earlier.

A catalogue of errors gave Ardley an early advantage as eventually Rob Lovegrove sliced an attempted clearance into his own net on 6 minutes to start the rot. Rob Powell was left appealing for something near the half way line as Agyeman pushed past him to set up a second for John Curtis on 39 minutes.

Half Time: 0-2

Despite a brief flurry at the start of the second period Milton were dead buried in the 51st minute as skipper Tony Butt increased the visitors advantage then just four minutes later, man of the match Nana Agyeman hit Ardley's fourth. Substitute Alex Feaver completed a miserable afternoon for Milton in the 79th minute as the home side had little to offer in what was one of the worst performances seen at the Heights for some time.

However, take nothing away from Ardley United who are a much more cohesive unit since the change of team management a short time ago.
