Pewsey Crash to Abingdon in Final Game
Pewsey Vale?s Hellenic Premier football next season lays in the hands of other teams results after their final league game at the recreation ground.
Mark Bennett had a good chance to go into the lead on 4 minutes but keeper Chris Flowers denied him. Pewsey lost Kia Dorland one-minute later through injury bringing on Neil Bartlett. Abingdon took the lead in the 10th minute from a corner by Ryan Curtin that found Andy Marriott who powered his shot past keeper Dave Hunt. In the 29th minute defender Chris Oram was adjudged to have hand-balled in the box and Curtin converted the penalty kick. Good work by Ross Anderson on the 33rd minute set up Bennett but he was denied when Flowers dived to his right for a great one handed save. A long ball from deep in their own half put Abingdon further ahead with James Organ scoring in the 39th minute.

Pewsey brought on Darren Waters for the injured Doug Imrie chances in the second half came to the Vale with Craig Wall making two good crosses but no Pewsey player was able to get contact with the ball. On the hour striker Barry Flippance got one back for the Vale when he saw his shot slide under the keeper. Wall was fouled just outside the box but the kick taken by Micky Goodwin drifted just wide of the far post. Flippance again was put through on the 80th minute but his shot also went just wide of the post. Luck was not going Pewsey Vales way Wall got the ball in the net but was disallowed by the referee for a push by a Pewsey player. A one on one situation with Pete Moss and the Vale keeper ended with Moss shooting going over the head of Hunt into the net in the 85th minute. In the final minute Marriott rose above the keeper to head in Abingdon?s fifth goal from a cross from the left wing.
