Pegasus Juniors  1    Fairford Town  2

Monday, 21 April 2003

Pegasus Juniors entertained their Gloucestershire visitors and in successive games conceded a goal in the final five minutes of a game in which they fully deserved a share of the spoils.

On the quarter hour mark, the Town were extremely fortunate to be awarded a free kick, they took full advantage of the situation and Matthews scored with a powerful header. Shortly before the half hour mark, Pegasus regained parity when Mike Symonds won the ball in the centre of the park his pass to Leigh Harris playing a more familiar strikers role was cleverly controlled and flicked over the advancing defender into the path of Gavin Stone who lobbed goalkeeper Price from thirty yards.

Half Time: 1-1

In an even second half when the hard bumpy pitch with a cross field blustery wind suited the long ball tactics of the visitors rather than the passing football of the home side. When the game seemed to be drifting towards a draw Pegasus lost possession in their own half of the pitch; as a result Fairford found space on the right for Wilkins to cross the ball to the far post for Kevin Keating to head home past the stranded Matt Taylor.
