Pegasus Juniors produced a solid performance that produced a goal in each half to gain some revenge for the defeat earlier in the season at Henley. Last day signings Ian Rodgerson and Terry Green, returning from Welsh League side Newtown after breaking his tibia last season, were instrumental in the creation of both goals. The experience of Rodgerson coupled with the strong running and determination of Green were influential to their colleagues.
In the eighth minute the quick thinking Rodgerson found Laurence Helme in space on the left, he crossed the ball to the far post where Neal Hotchkiss running toward goal headed the ball past inside the far post. Pegasus were buoyed by this early success and would have undoubtedly increased the lead before the interval had it not been for some rugged and resolute defending by the visiting back line. The game produced a fascinating midfield battle with the more experienced Hereford combination competing against a youthful and energetic Henley quartet. The home supporters thought a second goal was scored shortly before the break when Peter Wallace powerfully headed a Darren Jones cross from the right but somehow Stuart Gosby palmed the ball away and Green sent an instinctive reaction header past the upright.

In the fifty seventh minute persistence from Green nearly paid dividends for Pegasus when his shot required another fine save from Gosby at the expense of a corner kick; this was taken by Rodgerson and Wallace saw his header flash wide of the goal post. Shortly after the hour mark a fine flowing move involving, Rodgerson, Hotchkiss, Darren Jones, and Peter Wallace was concluded by Gavin Stone scoring with a header from close range. The visitors should have reduced the deficit within two minutes when Richard Witt headed past the upright following a cross from the right. The Hereford side were given a further reminder that the visitors were not finished when a shot from the right was only parried by Matt Taylor however he recovered to make a fine save from Danny Isariew.
