Chipping Norton Town stayed top of the table with a hard fought 3 ? 1 victory against New College Academy at Walterbush Road.
In a scrappy first half Chippy went in at the break with a 1 ? 0 lead. The goal coming from Gary Wright, his sixth of the season, bundling home a Craig Dore cross on 43 minutes. Then, moments later a Robbie Wyatt free kick rattled the bar.
Half Time: 1-0
Chippy made it 2 ?0 on 48 minutes. Gary Wright?s effort was handled in the box, which left Robbie Wyatt to slot the spot kick away for his 31st goal of the season. New College then introduced ex-Swindon Town man, Tom Jones as a sub and with his first touch he set up Richard Knox, who slotted the ball home from 20 yards out. Chippy was forced to defend deeper and deeper as New College, and Jones in particular started to take control. But Chippy secured the three points with a third on 80 minutes; Gary Wright?s corner was volleyed home by sub. Leon Canning.
