Shortwood United  0    Didcot Town  3

Saturday, 05 April 2003

Didcot travelled to Shortwood United on Saturday looking to avenge a 3-1 defeat at the Loop Meadow in December and when Town defender Paul Bedwell?s deflected shot found the net in the 25th minute there was only likely to be one winner. It was only Didcot?s wayward finishing, and a brilliant Andy Cooper clearance off the Didcot goal line at the other end, that meant the visitors led by a solitary goal at the interval. The other important action of the first half had seen Shortwood?s Mike Green sent-off in injury time for dissent and a second yellow-card.

Half Time: 0-1

With the man advantage Didcot took little time to wrap things up shortly after the break. A clever free kick from Cooper found Ian Concannon un-marked in the box and he made no mistake slotting past keeper Ashley Thomas from 12 yards. Concannon then scored his 60th goal of the season from the penalty spot after Chris Dore had been fouled in the box. The visitors were firmly in control and despite Dwaine Strong suffering a recurrence of the hamstring injury that has plagued most of his season, Didcot eased to a fully deserved win.
