Pewsey Vale FC  0    Carterton Town  0

Saturday, 29 March 2003

Fourth from the bottom Pewsey Vale put up a great fighting performance against second place Carterton Town that earned them a vital point in their battle against possible relegation. Pewsey dominated a good percentage of the game and were unlucky not to have taken all three points.

Pewsey welcomed back striker Craig Wall playing his first match for some time who was full of running he was denied on the 11th minute with a good save by keeper Nick Heritage. Another great run by Wall on the 29th minute his cross flashing across the goalmouth with no Pewsey player able to get a touch to it. Any Holder for Carterton saw his snap shot go well over the crossbar. Both sides had their chances to take a first half lead but the game went into the break all square.

Half Time: 0-0

With Micky Goodwin and Darren Waters performing well in the defence Pewsey continued to take the game to their visitors they were unlucky not to go into the lead when Neil Bartlett had his powerful shot on goal blocked by the keeper. Wall continued to run at the defence with the support of Bartlett and the rest of the team. Good team-work again gave defender Chris Oram a chance on goal but he shot over and again on the 65th minute Bartlett had a shot deflected for a corner. Pewsey Vale pushed for that winning goal but it was not to be and they had a let off, when in the last minute the foot of keeper Dave Hunt came to their rescue turning away a shot by Kevin Lewis.
