Chipping Norton Town continued their impressive league run with a 2 ? 1 victory over fourth place Purton at Walterbush Road.

Chippy took the lead on 4 minutes. Mark Odom acting the quickest to a miss-kick from keeper, Luke Alford who crossed for Gary Wright to score his fifth of the season from five yards out. The visitors enjoyed a good spell but without troubling Jeremy Winter in the Chippy goal. Chippy made it 2 ? 0 on 36 minutes with the classic counter attack from a Purton corner. Chippy broke with a Colin Tyrell pass that sent Mark Odom through on goal. He calmly slotted the ball past Alford for his 11th goal of the season. The visitors scored their only goal through Lee Curtis on 39 minutes caused by poor marking from a corner.

Half Time: 2-1

The visitors started the second half well, but Chippy thought back and should have scored a third with 10 minutes to go, but Neil Maskell scuffed his shot when through on goal. Deep into injury time Purton Adam Collier?s shot was brilliantly saved by Jeremy Winter in the home goal. After 9 minutes of injury time Referee Steve Reading blew the final whistle to give Chippy three more points.

Manager Phil Heath commented afterwards ?Today was a hard game on a surface that wasn?t the best, we have done terrifically well, at the moment I am very proud to be Chippy?s boss.?
