Didcot Town  6    Bicester Town  0

Tuesday, 18 March 2003

Didcot got back to winning ways with a thumping 6-0 win against relegation threatened Bicester Town at the Loop Meadow Stadium on Tuesday night.

The result never looked in doubt after Jamie Heapy volleyed home a brilliant opener in the first minute. Despite that early set back, Bicester worked hard to restrict Didcot to relatively few chances but that didn?t stop the home side extending the lead on the half-hour. Dwaine Strong beat three players before crossing to Ian Concannon who made no mistake from only two yards out. The same combination added a third goal before the interval. Strong lofted a cross into the Bicester area and Concannon headed home over keeper James Priestley.

Half Time: 3-0

The first chance of the second half saw Priestley save well from Damien Oglesby. Priestley then pulled off a great block from Strong?s low drive. Bicester nearly pulled a goal back midway through the half when only a point-blank save from keeper Keith McLoughlin denied Craig Blake. Shortly afterwards Didcot added a fourth goal courtesy of a penalty. The referee adjudged that Concannon had been pushed over in the box by Blake and the in-form striker made no mistake from the spot to complete his third hat-trick of the season. The home side underlined their dominance with two late goals. Adam Pilling slotted home from Nigel Emsden?s free-kick before Emsden himself notched his first for the club after another good run and cross from Strong.
