Pewsey Vale put their recent poor results behind then to secure a goalless draw with 5th in the table Southall Town but Pewsey deserved more than they got.
Pewsey striker Barry Flippance had two good chances to put his side into the lead, on the second minute his shot on goal was deflected for a corner and on the 14th minute his shot clipped the crossbar. Pewsey were unable to convert their chances into goals as they put the pressure on their visitors. Good work between players set up Liam Thompson but his shot was also turned away for another corner. Southall had a chance on the 28th minute when Darren Godfrey was allowed to continue his run from what looked like an offside position but Vale keeper Paul Clark denied him with a great save. Pewsey continued to look for that elusive goal but the game went into the half time break without a goal being scored.

Pewsey continued the pressure from the restart and a great ball in by Liam Thompson found Craig Wall but he headed well over the bar the Vale brought on Mark Stevens for defender Tony Dyer on the 52nd minute but the Pewsey defence held firm with Martin Churchward, Steve Thomas, Darren Cummings and midfielder Darren Tapper giving good individual performances. A free kick by Cummings was tipped over by Kenny Lavender the Southall keeper and Churchward had a header kicked off the goal line on 70 minutes and again with ten minutes to go Wall had a shot cleared again off the line after good work between Ross Anderson and Flippance. Pewsey brought on subs Andy Olsen for Tom Ritchie and Micky Goodwin for Thompson on the 81st minute. Olsen was soon in the action with a one two with Wall but Olsen?s final ball was weak. Pewseys? good team performance was to continue to the final whistle and that all important deserved goal would not come leaving Southall to come away from the game with a point.
