Division One (West)
Chipping Norton 1 Old Woodstock Town 0
Thursday, 26 December 2002
Chipping Norton Town continued their impressive league form with a 1 ? 0 victory against Old Woodstock Town at Walterbush Road. On a heavy pitch Town game a debut to Steve Wright recently transferred from Clanfield 85. He impressed on debut at the heart of the Chippy defence along with veteran Jon Muttock.
Chippy started well, striker Mark Dennis seeing an effort well saved by Darren Mole in the Woodstock goal. Chippy was grateful to Jeremy Winter in the home goal when he brilliantly saved a 25-yard shot from James Clarke on the half hour.
Half Time: 0-0
The second half continued as the first half had finished, a scrappy affair with neither side threatening on goal. Chippy was reduced to 10 men after 72 minutes when Striker Mark Dennis was sent off for something he said to the referee. Woodstock then had a great chance to win the match 10 minutes from time, but Cook?s effort went wide. Chippy made them pay when on 85 minutes Mark Odom scored a brilliant individual goal when he beat two defenders and placed his shot passed Mole to give Chippy all the points.
