Two goals from striker Barry Flippance and a last minute goal from Ross Anderson gave Pewsey Vale the three vital points.

Nine minutes into the match a brilliant one handed save by Vale keeper John Haines denied Chris Roach the chance to put the home side into the lead. Pewsey had a good chance scrambled away for a corner on the 16th minute and again Pewsey should have taken the lead on the 25th,but Flippance was denied by a great save from the home keeper Paul Belcher. Many chances went begging for both sides and with better finishing from the Pewsey strikers they could have gone into the break two or more goals in the lead. Wantage lost two key players within two minutes just before half time Iain Grey and Tom Larman both through injuries were replaced by John Hedges and Alex Oram.

Two minutes after the restart the home side took the lead through David Mulford his shot on goal hit one post crossed the goalmouth to go in the net off the other post. Wantage had a let of on the 63rd minute when a Craig Wall shot from outside the box hit the post and went out of play. Pewsey brought on Liam Thompson for Mark Stevens on the 66th minute and he was soon in the action. Things got better for Vale on the 71st minute when a perfect pin point cross by Anderson from the left side found Flippance in front of goal and this time he made no mistake to level the score. A heart stopping moment for the Vale came shortly after when Oram with an open goal shot wide. Pewsey took the lead on the 77th minute when good work by Thompson again found Flippance and he got his second goal after wrong footing the keeper. The Pewsey lead lasted ten minutes before Wantage levelled the score with a free kick that found the head of Peter Broad. With the match looking like the points being shared a Flippance pass to Craig Wall on the left flank and Wall?s perfect cross found Anderson unmarked in the box with the simple task of tapping home for three crucial points.
