Southall Town  6    Pegasus Juniors  1

Saturday, 07 December 2002

Pegasus Juniors made the long journey to London to face fifth placed Southall Town who eventually ran out easy winners.

The visitors were equal to the high flyers until they conceded a free kick on the edge of the penalty box, the initial free kick by Christian Glynn was blocked but poor marking allowed him to score at the second attempt. This knocked the resistance out of the Hereford side who were then always hard pressed to contain the home side. Southall increased the lead following two elementary mistakes, a quickly taken Leigh Stevens free kick three minutes before half time was miscontrolled by Ben Wheeler who lost possession, Southall countered quickly and Jon Casttagnette scored from a narrow angle.

Half Time: 2-0

Three minutes after half time, Pegasus lost possession on the half way line that allowed Michael Meaker to beat the offside trap and score with a shot off the upright. The visitors clawed themselves back into the game with a neat move finished in fine style by Ben Tippins, who scored his first goal in this his first full game for the team. Southall scored straight from the restart when Steven Newing received the ball and drove a tremendous shot just under the crossbar into the goal. Southall added further goals through Meaker and Dale Godfrey to record an easy victory over the long distance travellers.
