Yate knicked another three points after late Vale pressure.

Yate Town went into an 11th minute lead when Leon Simpson laid the ball to Paul Dempsey his shot was parried by the Vale keeper Elliott Jackson and the ball ran to Paul Methringham who beat the keeper. Lee Barlass was unlucky not to put Yate further in the lead on 16 minutes shooting just wide of the far post. Yate were playing good football spreading the ball well but their final ball was letting them down and the Pewsey defence were soaking up a lot of pressure from their visitors. A good piece of skill from Ross Anderson deserved more he went round two players only to be stopped by a third in the 24th minute. Yate continued to press the Vale a good run by Andy Neal after going round the Pewsey defence his cross found Simpson and his glancing header went wide on 26 minutes. Two minutes later a let off for the Vale when the appeals for off side fell on deaf ears but Mark Stevens cleared away the danger. Pewsey continued to soak up the pressure but they lost Craig Wall in the 34th minute bringing on Mark Field. Another great save by Jackson again denied Simpson and Yate went into the break knowing that they had the chances to have had the game put beyond the reach of their hosts. The first half was a good team effort from the Vale against a very well organised Yate Town.

Half Time: 0-1

At the start of the second half Pewsey brought on Colin Yates for the injured Barry Flippance. Pewsey was now having a little more of the play and when Anderson ran onto a good through ball he was denied by the keeper Tony Court. Disaster struck in the 64th minute when Leon Simpson scored a second goal for Yate. Pewsey pulled a goal back in the 70th minute a Yates cross from the right side a good dummy by Anderson found Andy Olsen unmarked to beat the keeper. Three minutes later Steve Thomas denied Yate when he headed a powerful shot off the goal line. After getting their goal the Vale fought hard for that equaliser and for the final 15 minutes put the pressure on their visitors and were unlucky not to get the draw.
