Flippance again gets late equaliser as Pewsey Vale fight for points continued at Oakland Park Almondsbury.
Pewsey Vale went into a 28th minute lead through Craig Wall, a break down the left wing and Walls shot went in off the far post to give Pewsey a deserved lead. The lead was short lived as Almondsbury got back on level terms through Benji Tricker a minute later.
Half Time 1-1.
The home side came out for the second half with more determination and could have gone into the lead on 47 minutes. A mix up in the Pewsey defence, nearly let them in but somehow the ball was cleared away for a corner and with more attacks on the Vale defence resulted in Vale keeper Elliott Jackson making several good saves. With eight minutes to go Almondsbury were awarded a penalty and Pewsey went down to ten men with defender Martin Churchward shown the red card and Micky Airs converting the penalty. With the seconds ticking away and Pewsey looking for that vital equaliser, Barry Flippance got the all important touch when a shot by Wall hit the keeper and then cannoned off Flippance to put Vale level at 2-2.
Overall, this was a good team performance from the Vale with Andy Olsen having a good game in the defence.
After the game Pewsey manager Don Rogers said ?I was very happy with the result from the team I was able to field which was badly weakened by disciplinary bans and injuries.
