Today?s game was a battle of two middle of the table side?s. Harrow Hill opened the game brightly and took an early lead. A low ball from a corner was knocked in at the near post. Harrow Hill continued to take the game to Malmesbury, but on the half-hour mark a good solo run by Alan Griffin resulted in a fine finish to make it one all. Two minutes later another corner for Harrow Hill resulted in a 2nd goal for the visitors. Again this came from a corner that was headed in at the far post. There was still time before half time for Malmesbury to have another effort. Alan Griffin broke away and round the goal keeper only for a defender to get a block tackle in and the danger was cleared. The score line at half time was no disgrace to Harrow Hill. Malmesbury can thank their goalkeeper Graham Jones for keeping them in the game.

Half Time: 1-2

Malmesbury started the second half well. Good work by Will Halliwell created an opportunity for Alan Griffin to score his tenth goal of the season. Malmesbury manager made a triple substitution and before any of them could get a touch of the ball Malmesbury scored two more goals through Will Halliwell one of which was a delightful lob over the goalkeeper. The last goal came in the 65th minute when good work by Andy Sandell down the left wing saw a pin-point cross for Alan Griffin to head in a simple chance and to complete his hat trick. From this point on Harrow Hill threw everything at Malmesbury without any success. Graham Jones was in superb form, and with Alan Griffin and Will Haliwell very lively up front Malmesbury always looked like scoring more goals.

The second half was a good all round display by Malmesbury, but Harrow Hill can feel as though they were unlucky not to take anything back to the Forest of Dean with them.
